Back To Reality: A Worksheet For Drunk Adults

2020 was a tough year for everyone and having worked closely with Glug Events over the years and finding a lot of our inspiration in the pub, meant that the hospitality industry is something really close to our hearts at BND. So after a year of COVID restrictions we wanted to do something to promote and support the return of an industry that we love.

A year of isolation made even the best of us a bit peculiar, so we wanted to create something that not only celebrated the first step back to normality, but also helped to get us all back in the spirit of things, break the isolation ice and show some love & appreciation for our favourite places!!

What We Did

Between COVID and BREXIT there was a lot of passport related chat in the air so we decided to flip this on its head and create the ‘Alternative’ Pub Passport. Positioned as a worksheet for drunk adults, the passport took the form of a double-sided A3 illustration, folding down into a passport-sized parody with a bunch of fun activities for pub-goers. Complete with an ID page, regulars bingo, conversation starters for the chronically isolated and a pub quiz for those looking to exercise their lockdown skills. The design is a busy and irreverent piece that parodies the british drinking culture

The Regulars

The pub is a beautiful thing, and much more than just the drinks! It’s the people and the community it brings together. Not least are the regulars — found propping up the bar in every fine establishment, they’re part of the furniture and represent our collective culture. 2022 was a tough old year for the regular and the passport boasted that you’d truly know normality has returned when you can spot all the characters.

Press

Conceptualised, created and printed in the two weeks before May 17th when pubs across the UK began re-opening their doors to the public, we distributed 5000 passports to taprooms and breweries up and down the country and hand delivered folded copies to pubs all around London. There was a general buzz in the air and through all the industry noise the passport managed to garner attention from national press including an exclusive article in The Sun.

Prints were available to purchase online however as the project was much more about getting friends together, showing support and having fun down your local we made it free to download and print at home.
